Random post 1
I don't know what to write, so I think I am going to treat this post like a free write. Everything that pops in my head, I am going to write. Funny enough, my roommate just walked in the room. I asked him what I should write about, and he said koalas. Unfortunately, neither my roommate or I know anything about koalas; he said he just felt like giving me one of his smart ass responses. However, now that he is in the room, I know what I will write about-- my roommates. I live with three people. I guess for this post, I will share random facts about them that pop in my head.
First, we have the infamous roommate (technically suitemate) who said Koalas. Koala man's real name is Rachit. When he was younger, people used to think it was pronounced "Ratchet"; however, it is "ruh-chit." He's from all over. He was born in Singapore, then went to high school in Chicago, but he is now living in Cincinnati. He has an older brother and makes sure he carves out a time to talk to his family every day. Although I never admit it to him, I admire how close he his with his family. He is a singer and plays the guitar. Im waiting for him to teach me, but he is always so busy. We were randomly assigned suite mates Freshman year in Mccarthy, and I have lived with him since. This is honestly just the beginning of Koala man, and I could probably write about him for pages. Instead, I will keep it short and sweet, but if you want to know more, let me know!
Next, we have the person who I unfortunately have to share an actual room with--Vib. Like Rachit, Vib has lived multiple places as well, including Houston, Jakarta, and Doha. Vib was also randomly assigned with me since Freshman year and all three of us still live together. Fun fact: Vib and I share the same birthday--January 14th, 2003; however, he was born in the afternoon while I was born in the morning, so he is still my little brother. Vib is a hard person to explain. I mean like extremely hard. He doesn't seem real sometimes. He keeps life spontaneous for sure, but at the same time, he is so predictable. He's like an dependent toddler but a mature adult at the same time. Honestly, it's unbelievable how comical he is. I can keep going on and making analogies for him, but you genuinely just have to come meet him for yourself.
Finally, we have the last person in the apartment-- Sameer. Sameer did not live with us freshman year, but funny enough, Sameer and Rachit went to middle school together. So, that is how Sameer ended up with us. Sameer is not what you would expect either. The person who is lazy, sloppy, and a full out degenerate is also the same person who can interview with a company that only accepts 5 interns and be told that he gave the best answer they have heard in years. I don't get it. He is the same person that has no common sense but maintains a 4.0 gpa. I don't get it. I tell him all the time that he's a terrible person but amazing friend. I hope you all enjoyed my post about my roommates. They are all characters and drive me insane every single day with how dirty they are. But I would not rather live with anyone else. I am excited for what our senior year together will bring, but first, we need to figure out where we are living...
Brandon, this is exactly how many of my freewrites have gone. I basically have no idea where to start but then something like Koalas leads to me talking about my roommates. It was hilarious that you went from the lazy animal to the people you live with. It seems you have some unique characters living with you.
ReplyDeleteLike Enrique, I love how well your free write went. I felt like I was in your shoes while I was reading through them, seeing everything from your perspective. Your roommate Sameer sounds like an interesting person to meet. A 4.0 GPA is insane!
ReplyDeleteHey Brandon, I enjoyed your post, and appreciate the simplicity of it. The facts that you came up with are pretty damn funny, but I also got some insight into your life as well. It's cool to randomly reflect on your friends or in this case roommates, and really try to define how they operate. I too have a roommate with a lot of the same qualities that you described in yours. Great work my friend!
ReplyDeleteI love this post. It is so simple just talking about the people who are literally around you, but the way you described them really made it seem like you guys are really close! I just went to Joshua Tree for the long weekend with some of my roommates from freshman year and it was so much fun! We unfortunately do not live together anymore, but I wish we did. Not a lot of people can say they're still close with their freshman year roommates, so congrats on being one of the lucky ones :)
ReplyDeleteBrandon,
ReplyDeleteI loved this. I think treating the random post like a free write was a good move, and I found it to be pretty humorous, especially in the beginning. I enjoyed reading about your roommates as well. I also have some interesting roommates myself, so it was nice to read about someone else's too.
