World We Dare to Imagine Post 1
From all standards, I am FAR from perfect. I overthink, overreact, underachieve, etc. I am the definition of imposter syndrome and not believing I am doing enough. However, one thing that I can say proudly say that I strive to do everyday is be grateful and happy. Wherever I go, I try to smile and look at the positive. I try to uplift others and "hold a mirror" to their faces, so they can realize how amazing they are because that is the truth. Humanity and everyone around us is amazing.
That daily goal of mine ultimately boils down to kindness. It is not hard to be kind. Be respectful, be understanding, and be aware that everyone is going through their own problems. I typically try to share my kindness through humor. I love when I can help people smile and laugh even if it is just for a second. All I want to do is try to make their day better.
So ultimately, in a world I dare to imagine, I think the first step is for everyone to be kind and respectful to each other. We all need to understand and remind ourselves that everyone can be struggling, and the best thing we can do is try to be positive. By completing this first step, we can build a more unified society where we are able to overcome larger problems presented on a social and global scale.
Brandon, firstly I want to let it be known that we all undergo these emotions. None of us are perfect and it is completely normal to act in these ways. I too spoke about the importance of kindness, and I appreciate the way you went about it. Striving for happiness goes hand in hand with the kindness and love we are surrounded by. With this in mind, in order to take that next step we must spread as much kindness as possible to the point where it becomes infectious and we receive it in return.
ReplyDeleteBrandon, there is no problem with not being perfect. No one no matter how good they may seem is perfect. All we can do is strive to be our best each and every day, which I can appreciate that you talk about. Being kind is the easiest and most impactful way to do this, and I hope that if we all do this we can become unified like you say.
ReplyDeleteWell said! I firmly believe in the idea that what you put out into the world is what you receive. Though at times, I may lose sight of this belief, it remains my greatest source of inspiration and happiness. Growing up in a close-knit community where everyone knew each other, we greeted one another warmly wherever we went. I dearly miss that sense of connection, and I'm eager to cultivate it once more. It begins with simple gestures—being kind to those around you and encouraging the best in them.
ReplyDeleteBrandon, I like the idea you have that every time you go out you try to bring a sort of positive energy to whomever it might be. This is something I think we all need to do better and something very hard for the average person. I too always try to do this, but I like how you touched on how you're going to make sure you help encourage kindness. I need to also find a way to incorporate more kindness into the world, as I think it is the one thing we can all do better! Cheers.
